Welcome to The Reading and Spelling Studio! I'm here to help individuals improve their reading and spelling abilities by using the Barton Reading & Spelling System. This is an intensive, multi-sensory, direct, Orton-Gillingham influenced, Structured Literacy program which is research and evidenced based. Does the following sound familiar?

    • high frequency sight words such as come, does, was, said, and what are continuously misspelled despite repetitive practice 

    • with extensive effort, Monday's spelling list is "memorized" long enough to pass Friday's spelling test, but those same words can never seem to be spelled correctly while writing sentences       

    • when copying something from the board or from a book, words are still misspelled

• reading is extremely slow, choppy, and inaccurate

• prepositions (of, in, to, at) are often misread or skipped

• suffixes are often ignored while reading
